The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, we deliver extensive primary healthcare and 24-hour emergency service, from nine strategic bases, to those who live, work and travel throughout Queensland.

The Role:

  • Full Time, permanent
  • 24-hour rotational roster

Working with Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ) in Kedron, our Duty Tasking Officers provide an essential 24/7 service tasking all RFDS aeromedical patient transfer and retrievals throughout Queensland. 

As a Duty Tasking Officer, you will be the initial point of contact for RFDS aeromedical requests from both Queensland Health/ RSQ and our RFDS Medical Officers. You will assist in the efficient planning of crews and aircraft movements to meet the request and authorise RFDS aircraft and crews to be tasked for flights.  You will also supply manifests to our bases and pilots before the commencement of each flight.  

The role requires the ability to assess situations and make informed decisions in a high tempo environment. You will have a keen eye for detail and will maintain record systems and ensure RFDS governance and compliance requirements are met. 

About you

To be successful in the role you will have aviation industry experience and an understanding of operational considerations in aviation including factors pertaining to aircraft performance. 

In addition, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in multi-tasking and having the ability to make optimal decisions under pressure
  • The ability to communicate facts in a clear and concise manner whilst displaying professionalism and confidentiality in high tempo situations
  • Demonstrated operational logistics management experience

This role will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. You will also be required to be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC). You will be required to successfully complete the RFDS credentialing process which includes providing copies of qualifications/registrations and evidence of immunity or vaccination against VPD.
