We are seeking Primary Health Care (PHC) Nurses to join the RFDS team in Cairns. In these hands-on roles, working within a close-knit team, you’ll help us make a real difference to people’s lives and to the future of our organisation.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, we deliver extensive primary healthcare and 24-hour emergency service, from nine strategic bases, to those who live, work and travel throughout Queensland.

- Full-time and part-time roles
- Fixed-term contracts until June 2020 with a view to possible extension

The RFDS offers exciting opportunities to fly in/fly out to rural and remote communities in Northern Queensland making a difference where it is needed most – in the lives and health of children and families living, travelling and working in Queensland’s remote communities. PHC Nurses provide essential healthcare services through the delivery of RFDS Primary Health Care clinics, across the life span. You will collaborate with the multidisciplinary health care team to provide comprehensive nursing care with a focus on Chronic Disease Management for individuals including health assessments, care planning and the delivery of preventative health programs.

Who are we looking for?
You are an experienced and high-performing Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration, with exceptional patient care and equal commitment to contributing to team and operational goals.
In addition, you will have:
- A minimum four years of postgraduate nursing experience and experience and/or qualifications related to Primary Health Care
- Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. (This will need to be obtained prior to starting employment, or shortly thereafter).
- Post graduate experience/qualification may include: Midwifery, Child and Family Health, Women's health, Immunisation, Public Health, Health Promotion, or Chronic Disease
Previous experience in rural and remote health and/or working with indigenous families would be beneficial. You must be willing to stay overnight in remote and indigenous communities and fly on a light aircraft.

Please note: This role will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. You will also be required to be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
