The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organisations in the world. Using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology, it delivers extensive primary health care and 24-hour emergency service to those who live, work and travel Australia. The range of essential health care services includes general practice, Indigenous health, child and family health, social and emotional wellbeing, women’s health, health promotion activities and provides regular patient transfers for life-saving medical care.
Today, the RFDS (Queensland Section) has nine bases across the state plus the Corporate Office, services an area of 1,727,200 sq. km, and provides care to more than 91,000 patients in the last year. With over 400 professional and dedicated staff spread across aviation, medical, nursing and support service disciplines, RFDS Queensland Section is a diverse and complex health service provider.

The RFDS (Queensland Section) is seeking expressions of interest from Medical Officers to join the organisation. The two main services the RFDS provides from these locations are Aeromedical and Emergency Services and Primary Health Care Services. Your role could vary from emergency aeromedical services retrievals to running a remote clinic overlooking the ruggard landscape of outback Queensland.
These positions are offered on a permanent full-time, part-time and casual basis at our Charleville, Cairns or Mount Isa Bases.
To be successful in this role you will have:
Fellowship in General Practice Fellowship (FRACGP, FACRRM for primary health care roles) or a Critical Care Speciality (FACEM, FANZCA, FCICM, with advance critical care qualifications for Aeromedical roles) is highly regarded. It is essential that you are registered or have the ability to be registered with AHPRA (Medical Board of Australia).
